Participating Artists:

MNTXX (pronounced "mo-no-tax") is the duo of college mates and alter egos, Momo and Takz. When Momo met Gee-Bee and Takz met Kay-Ess, they all went on a quadruple date with Andy Warhol, scored some A to Z's with Sid Vicious and jammed with Malcom McLaren till the cows got lost on their ways home.

Erick Calilan is a Cavite-based sound artist, a multi-instrumentalist and an interdisciplinary artist working with D.I.Y. (Do-It-Yourself) technology related to sounds. He spearheads the sound art collective, Experimentation in Sound Art Tradition (E.X.I.S.T.), and recently curated the festival called Active | De-Active: An Inventive Music Festival 2010, an international music festival focused on improvised music, which toured three Philippine cities – Cavite, Manila and Davao.

Featured Video: The Books - Smells Like Content

A. YES! We are a food band, and we would love to be known as a food band. In fact, I think we are much more comfortable cooking for an audience than playing music for an audience. Food is essential, no doubt about it. We tag team the house, when one of us is in the studio, the other is in the kitchen. We prefer simple healthy food, dark green vegetables, potatoes, nice cheese, good whole-grain bread, sweet ripe fruit, almonds, mushrooms, red wine. One of our favorite dishes is ‘hoppin’ John’ which is the good luck food of the south consisting of collard greens and black-eyed peas. Awesome. And Paul is the pie man." - (FAQ, the booksmusic.com)

Passage: Tad Ermitaño's first solo exhibit

"End Frame Video Art Project 3: Present," a Philippine video art festival, commences this month as the third edition and new format of the video art festival which took place in 2006 and 2007. Presented by Visual Pond, the theme "Present" refers to the current project’s focus on selected Philippine contemporary artists’ practices in video art. Throughout the festival, each artist stages a show presenting new video work in various venues from January 2011 to January 2012.

The festival proudly launches with "Passage," a solo exhibition by Tad Ermitaño, opening on January 15 at Pablo Gallery, Fort Bonifacio. A site-specific work responsive to the two rooms of Pablo and the stairs between them, "Passage" utilizes multiple projections and video mapping technology in a crossover of fairy tales and science fiction. Ermitaño, who has studied philosophy, biology and filmmaking, has participated in several local and international group exhibitions and film festivals, including the 2002 videoart.mov, the 2004 Hong Kong International Film Festival, the 2006 Ogaki Biennale, the 2007 Dime a Dozen at Lopez Museum, the 2008 Inter-society of Electronic Arts juried exhibition and recently, the Hear to Ear exhibition of Fete dela Wsk. "Passage" marks the first solo exhibition of this media artist, running until 29 January 2011 with a closing talk by the artist at 5:30 pm.

Pablo Gallery, located at C-11 South of Market Condominium, 11th corner 26th Avenue, Fort Bonifacio, Taguig, is open Tuesday to Saturday from 12 noon to 7:00 pm, tel. no. (632) 506-0602. Other confirmed artists presenting new works for End Frame 3 include Manny Montelibano, Claro Ramirez, Kiri Dalena and Kaloy Olavides with the full schedule and line-up to be announced soon. For inquiries on the project, call +63917-5357955 or email visualpond@gmail.com. "Passage" is with thanks to Green Papaya Art Projects.

Christmas goodies! New live video of "Spacetalk" by My Parasol

"Spacetalk was written in collaboration by Susanna and Mark to explore the relationship between Susanna's organic roots and Mark's electronic music background. It was composed and recorded at Musicians Institute, Hollywood where they both attended school. This is the first of many songs My Parasol would like to share with willing listeners. We hope you enjoy it and share it with others!" - My Parasol

*Bell is a sound installation by Tad Ermitaño that revisits the principle of transduction – the process of converting one type of energy into another – as a field of sonic exploration. Ermitaño’s work abandons the use of prefabricated speakers and surrounds the audience with a curved wall of metal suspended from the ceiling, which is then vibrated by electromagnets driven by high-voltage audio signals. Sounds ripple, bounce, and interfere within the wall before being released into the air. Bell, - a title that recalls both the object and the inventor of the speaker - imagines an alternate reality where the speaker is not as a transparent transmitter of sonic content, but an instrument of architectural proportions.

**Insonoresonance
Sebastian Szczyrk (Paris) and Tengal, etc
Sebastian Szczyrk, the creator of the project, Un Escargot Vide? is a French artist whose visual research (drawings, illustrations, performances) to sound experimentations (CD, concerts, installations) reach a diffusive panorama. As the festival’s residency artist, he’ll conduct a month long field research on public memory, urban structures and sound ecology. Insonoresonance is a result of various collaborations with local artists in Manila, which are presented in various outputs: as an installation for an exhibition, a cd, and series of computer drawings, and urban space intervensions. The work questions the viewer’s perception - the truth of representation - outlining a journey from the initial visioning of a series of “audio memories” with synthetic images and ending up in an encounter with a physical interactive object which co-opts information flows, sound and light transmission.

***Autoceremony's live set up at Fete dela WSK.

Formed in 2005, autoceremony is a solo project-studio effort of Jing Garcia as a creative musical outlet that spawned from his earlier experimental soundart group Dominguez-Shimata.Colony (est.1995) and The Children of Cathode Ray (est.1989), one of the earliest experimental soundart groups in the country.
